City Inspector Report, Manchester England, 1847

What was life and work like in the industrial cities in England in the 19th century?

This is an assignment that was written to show proof of knowledge of what happened working in the Industrialization.

This report dated from the 19th century has been provided for the urban planning committees of various cities in England. My name is Khaleia Johnson, and as a mid-level city inspector I trust that you will use the information within to determine appropriate needs in urban planning for your municipalities. My report has been through as I have made use of all the sources available to me and have worked to guide you through my own analysis and critical  thinking to a full description of the issues facing our cities.

Some of the positive views of the impact of Industrialization on life and work in the cities were Kind owners and available jobs. Kind owners offered jobs where the site was beautiful and always open to employ people in need of jobs. This shows that there were kind owners because most owners wouldn't have cared for the environment the workers worked in. " The working rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean, not too much smoke."( Doc.E) Those are a few of the positive views that was contrasted information.

Some negative views were the smoke, black water, fires, bad smells, and bad breathing air. "The factories start fires and bad breathing air." (Doc.C) There was harsh environment that the workers worked in and that there were owners who didn't care about the conditions the employees worked in.
In my opinion, I think the Industrialization had more of a negative impact on living and working conditions because there were more owners that didn't care about the workers and the workers was exposed to bad environments that could mess with their health. We can assume that's why during the Industrialization many people died at an early age because of the conditions. The information that was most reliable and convincing this leading me to this point of view was the information given from Document C where it talks about fire and more. I could never imagine an environment being so bad that fires started.
